Close observational drawing forms the core of Kim Anderson’s practice as she explores the physical manifestations of a psyche in turmoil, and the ever-shifting relationship between our inner and outer worlds. With a consistent tendency towards intricate detail, Kim works in both large and minute scale to discover how powerful internal emotions can be embodied. Often she undertakes a deeply personal journey of intense psychological scrutiny in order to navigate the more difficult realms of human experience.
Kim completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) at the University of Ballarat, and in 2007 was awarded a scholarship to study a Master of Fine Art at the University of Dundee, Scotland. Since graduating from the MFA in 2008, she has undertaken residencies in Scotland, Italy, Japan, France and multiple locations around Australia, and has been a finalist in numerous awards including the Paul Guest Prize, the Rick Amor Drawing Prize, and the Hazelhurst Works on Paper Award.
